Provider, Producer, Veterinarian Network ProjectPosted: December 02, 2016
NESD AHEC was recently awarded as a Grantee of the Bush Foundation for the South Dakota One Health Producer/Provider/Veterinarian Network (PPV Net). The goal of the PPV Net is to more effectively communicate information regarding zoonotic disease and other public health issues among livestock producers, medical providers and veterinarians in an effort to improve the quality and continuity of healthcare among both human and animal populations in South Dakota
Because of patient experience, communities in South Dakota are increasingly focused on potential impact of animal-borne illnesses. The Northeast South Dakota Area Health Education Center wants to encourage better communication and collaboration among veterinarians, health care providers and agricultural producers. The “SD One Health” initiative creates a central hub where the public health interests of the livestock, medical and veterinary communities intersect to promote a higher quality of care to South Dakota’s human and animal populations.
