Our partnership began in 2019, after Dr. Matt Owens from Redfield Community Memorial Hospital initially suggested our organizations work together. Our goal was to provide accessible EMS education and EMS training from regional, state, and national EMS experts to the EMS providers of South Dakota.

Through collaboration on the District IV Refresher, Covid-19 Community Panel, and monthly EMS webinars, Northeast SD AHEC and SD EMSA District IV have developed a strong partnership. We are focused on providing quality EMS education and EMS training to SD EMS providers accessible in their communities.

During 2020, Northeast SD AHEC and the SD EMSA District IV collaborated to make community health leaders accessible to the rural EMS providers for the Covid-19 Community Panel webinars. These webinars helped provide timely and ever changing information out to the rural providers of South Dakota. 

Northeast SD AHEC and the SD EMSA District IV have continued the method of distance education through support of the South Dakota Community Foundation. Northeast SD AHEC and the SD EMSA District IV, currently, provide monthly online training and education to the EMS providers across South Dakota on topics relevant to the time.
